The former governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano’s wife, is reported to be in EFCC custody over alleged involvement in fraud.
The former first lady of Anambra State had been on the news recently, following the row with the former Nigerian Ambassador to Spain, Lady Bianca Ojukwu.
That was during the hand over ceremony to Chukwuma Soludo at Anambra.
It was reported that Obiano’s wife is currently being questioned by the Economic And Financial Crimes Commission.
About a month ago, Obiano was arrested at the Muritala Mohammed International Airport. The arrest was based on alleged fraud of ₦37 billion security vote and ₦5 billion SURE-P funds.
It was reported that he was on his way out of the country. Barely few hours after handing over to the current governor, Chukwuma Charles Soludo.
Obiano’s wife had recently declared her intentions to contest during the 2023 elections.
She had stated her ambition to represent Anambra North District in the House of Senate during the 2023 elections.
Wilson Uwujaren, spokesman for the Economic And Financial Crimes Commission, said he was not aware of the recent turn of things.
He further stated that Ex-Governor Obiano’s wife was not in their custody.
